New product line from Spear & Jackson of England who have been making tools since 1760. The trowel is the most essential tool for gardeners: for planting, transplanting seedlings and plugs, for turning over the soil and lifting out weeds etc. A trowel is used to make a hole, excavate and shape it and then smooth the soil back over the plant when planting is complete. The e-series trowel is the most comfortable trowel we have used. Do not be fooled by the name. Do not think this is the same British tool that used to be recommended for years by professional gardeners.
I checked with the “British” “manufacturer” in the UK. NOT! This fake British tool is made in CHINA.
If you read gardening blogs, you will know that Chinese made tools break and fall apart years before the old British or American tools used to.
What is really galling: Spears & Jackson sell their tools at the same prices that real tools used to sell for. British and American workers are thrown out of jobs, new managements pocket your money–and you get cheated.
I am going to look at websites like “Still Made in USA” and the real British “Bulldog” tools and other sites to find real tools.
Do some research online and do not get cheated.
