JUNE 15TH UPDATE, I FOUND KIT/BATH 48″,, T12, 40W, FLUORESCENT BULBS, @ 3400 LUMENS & 3000k color temp, AT SAME PRICE 2/6.00. I replaced all the aqua/plant lights @only 1900 lumens. Now it’s a mix of the bath/kit ones and the sunshine full spectrum bulbs @ ONLY 2250 lumens & 5000k color temp, 40w.That should do the trick. REMEMBER, THIS INSIDE GARDEN IS AN EXPERIMENT USING CHEAP LIGHT BULBS, AND FIXTURES. AT THE MOMENT, I CANT AFFORD THE EXPENSIVE LIGHTS BULBS FOR INDOOR GARDENING. AND WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT IF IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO JUST BUY VEGGIES, WHEN THE PROJECT IS COSTING TOO MUCH? WHO KNOWS, MAYBE THE MORE POWERFUL PLANT LIGHTS WILL COME DOWN IN PRICE AS THIS GETS MORE POPULAR. I ALSO DONT LIKE THE MERCURY IN THE LIGHT BULBS, THAT HEATS UP AND RELEASES MERCURY VAPOR. THE FIRST REASON WHY I BOUGHT THE AQUARIUM/PLANT LIGHTS, BUT THEY ARE NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH @ 1900 LUMENS. THIS GLOBAL WARMING SCAM IS FORCING US TO USE MERCURY LITE BULBS, WHICH ARE MORE DANGEROUS TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND YOUR HEALTH THAN TRADITIONAL BULBS. I’m doing good, the lettuces are working well, (Bibb and Mesclun mix). Bloomsdale Spinach growing slowly – I think the problem maybe that I didnt add peat moss or vermiculite to the potting soil to keep it from compacting too much on the roots/root veggies. I’m going to correct that as I harvest, and even transplant them to a different container, and try and find more powerful but cheap lights with higher lumens. I keep trying other varieties to see …
