JUNE 18TH UPDATE, I FOUND KIT/BATH 48″,, T12, 40W, FLUORESCENT BULBS, @ 3400 LUMENS & 3000k color temp, AT SAME PRICE 2/6.00. I replaced all the aqua/plant lights @only 1900 lumens. Now it’s a mix of the bath/kit ones and the sunshine full spectrum bulbs @ ONLY 2250 lumens & 5000k color temp, 40w.That should do the trick. REMEMBER, THIS INSIDE GARDEN IS AN EXPERIMENT USING CHEAP LIGHT BULBS, AND FIXTURES. At the moment, I cant afford the expensive light bulbs for indoor gardening. Ie: I saw the LED lights on line with NO mercury. And what would be the point if it would be cheaper to just buy veggies, when the project is costing too much? Maybe the more powerful bulbs will come down in price as this gets more popular. I also dont like the mercury in the light bulbs. That heats up and releases mercury vapor. The 1st reason why I bought the aquarium plant lights – with NO mercury. but they are not powerful enough @1900 lumens. It would be interesting to get the veggies tested to see if and how much mercury they absorbed. THIS GLOBAL WARMING SCAM IS FORCING MANY COUNTRIES TO USE MERCURY LITE BULBS, WHICH ARE MORE DANGEROUS TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND YOUR HEALTH THAN TRADITIONAL BULBS. *ANYWAYS* – I’m doing good, the lettuces are working well, (Bibb and Mesclun mix). Bloomsdale Spinach growing slowly – I think the problem maybe that I didnt add peat moss or vermiculite to the potting soil to keep it from compacting too much on the roots/root veggies.
