I love this little book. I love Ellen’s writing style that is very humorous and personable while still being informational and matter of fact. The author includes some concise content that is useful such as information on moon phases, how to choose the best plants for growing in your region, as well as alternative sources and uses for herbs if you cannot grow your own plants. This book is a complete beginners guide to tell you how to work with herbs in general. Its strong point is that is is not a herb encyclopedia. After reading this book you are ready to take the next step. Which isnt that the goal of a beginner level book? I feel a great companion to this book would be Cunnningham’s Encyclopedia of Herbs.
Very good tips for anyone – beginner or more advanced. The book is set out so you can go to just one section or another, find what you’re looking for and not have to read pages and pages of theory and background. The first few pages alone will set you up with a basic knowledge of moon cycles, candle colors that associate with each day and planetary influences of each day of the week.
I’m getting initiated in to the wonderful world of magic. magic has come to my life to fill a big gap and sadness that felt overwhelming. after reading some books by Scott Cunningham, etc i really didn’t know how to make the magic rituals, i was clueless. some books just doesn’t have the proper structure or organization until i read Dugan’s herb magic. it was like an “aha” moment, this is how it is! she tells you the correspondence of colors and their influences, the influence of the days of the weeks and that Friday is the best day for love rituals, that the moon is a key player in giving the right energy depending on what phase is in, the circle, cleansing, ect. excellent book. for someone that is starting on magic this is the book or if you already know about it this is a big refresher. These are my recommendations in order to learn magic: herb magic for beginners by Dugan, moon spells how to use the phases of the moon to get what you want by Diane Ahlquist, then any Scott Cunningham book starting with wicca a guide for the solitary practitioner and so on.
I recieved this item in record time, and I love the quality of it!! Thank you
