My initial impression after twenty minutes of use: this is the hoe I have always wanted. It will never fall apart. It can cut through anything. If I get behind in my weeding, it will let me get caught up without killing myself.
The handle is nice and heavy, and a good healthy length. The head is broad , a little flexible, and really sharp. The head is attached to the handle with two bolts that are perpendicular to each other. Wow.
It can cut through the worst stuff in my garden — dense grassy weeds — like nothing. I have used maybe 10 different hoes in my life, and 3 or 4 different *types* of hoe. Now, I will never buy another one.
After I finished using it, I washed it. I have never done that before. (And the next morning, I found out that the head can rust, a little. I don’t care. I will oil it. )
I’m pretty sure that, after they saw me using this thing yesterday, many of the weeds in my garden will probably just uproot themselves and find someplace else to live. They may be weeds, but they’re not stupid.
